Central Park Improvement committee has reached its first goal of raising at least $45,000 for new playground equipment at Central Park. The next goal is to raise the remaining $30,000 by the end of February.

Marlin J. Miller, a Durham native, retired this week after 40 years of federal civil service with the U.S. District Court in Wichita.

Marion Elementary School has announced November students of the month. Those recognized are Shayla Kline, Jade Corona, Braden Fahey, Taylor Fahey, Cherokee Hurst, Madison Coleman, Cooper Garman, Jordan Laurin, Shona Ratzloff, Kennedy Fahey, Maggie Vinduska, Hap Waddell, Drew Helmer, Emily Schafers, Cheyenne Jeffrey, Joshua Hall and Kaelyn Thierolf.

Five generations of the Tharp family were present Monday at St. Luke Living Center to help Helen Bailey celebrate her 106th birthday.

Sue Klassen and Mary Jane Grimmett, members of Florence PRIDE committee, are pictured as they serve a cowboy dinner Saturday evening to a crowd of people who showed up to enjoy the meal and watch a program by “Delano Dollies, Old Time Dance Hall Review.”

The unveiling to the public of the new Marion-Florence USD 408 performing arts center will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday.
