A decision needs to be made for the new jail location. Marion County Commission is looking for a possible location of a proposed county jail. The architect consultant for the city council has suggested a lot along US-56. Commission chairman Randy Dallke was told the council would prefer the jail facility be located adjacent to a residential area of Kellison Street.

After three hours of closed- door discussions spanning four days, economic development director Jami Williams resigned. Williams completed two years as a contract employee for the city. Her annual pay at the conclusion of the contract, which ended Dec. 21, was $49, 968.17 per year.

Kansas Army National Guard Lt. Brandon “Luke” Kimbrel of Marion left Jan. 1 for training before his second deployment to Iraq. The Legion Riders Post 22, Marion, took to the streets Dec. 30 to give a local soldier a proper send-off.

The family of Jackie Hett met Dec. 26 at a Wichita motel for their annual Christmas celebration.

One of the voices from an a cappella group “Six Appeals” at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, is Michael Brookens, a 2006 Marion High School graduate and current music major at Concordia. The group, which originally had six members, consists of seven Concordia sophomores whose voices flow on stage like a fine wine.
