Boy Scouts from Marion Troop 102 joined about 4,000 other scouts during the past weekend at the annual Trappers Rendezvous in Harvey County West Park. Scouts included Joey Anderson, Justin Barr, Dylan Carpenter, Christian Czarnowsky, Spencer Fugitt, Dylan Goebel, Louis Holt, Aaron and Adam Mollecker, Adam and Kyle Palic, Seth Snelling, and Charles Stuchlik.

Pictured on the sports page is Marion’s Bridget Lundy who scored a season-high seven points Monday to help her team defeat defending 3A state champ Riley 45-41 in the first round of the Trojan Classic.

New Marion County Undersheriff Dave Huntley is returning to a job he had more than 20 years ago. Huntley was undersheriff in 1985, working for Sheriff Mike Childs, but for the past 20 years has been with the Harvey County Sheriff Department. Huntley is returning now to serve as deputy sheriff under newly elected Sheriff Rob Craft.

About a dozen spectators and potential buyers gathered Thursday afternoon at Marion County Courthouse for the sheriff’s sale of the former Kingfisher Steakhouse & Lounge. There was only one bid submitted for consideration, that from Tampa State Bank, the lien holder of the property.
