Marion County Commission approved a conditional use permit Monday for a wind farm proposed by Rex Savage of Windborne Energy of rural Florence. The planning commission received no unfavorable letters or public comments regarding the company’s application. However, some unfavorable comments were made at Monday’s meeting.

Nine teams, 32 singles, 16 doubles, and 25 all-event players participated Nov. 6 and 7 in a tournament at SherBowl Lanes, Marion. Scratch winners were: team, SherBowl Lanes; women’s singles, Sonya Morse; men’s singles, Ryan Morse; doubles, Marty Bell and Kenny Remmers; all events, women, S. Morse; men, R. Morse.

Fifth grader Jordan Whitwell is pictured as he walks out of Marion Elementary School Nov. 17 into surprise snowfall. Near blizzard conditions made the community look like a winter wonderland, but only for a short time. By the weekend, residents were enjoying temperatures in the 60s again.

The 2010 17th annual Marion County Toy Run was a big success with 120 motorcycles, 10 classic cars, a vintage fire truck, and a trailer full of bicycles for the kids.

Marion native and longtime resident Roger W. Hannaford III was named president-elect of Kansas Land Title Association at the annual convention Aug. 14 in Overland Park.
