Joe and El Pickett have closed a deal to purchase the Suffield Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing building on the southeast corner of Main and 3rd Sts. He is the head of St. Luke Hospital’s radiology department. She is a corporate tax specialist.
The name of the new restaurant and bar will be MacGregor’s. It will serve finger food such as sandwiches and burgers. After 9 p.m., it will become a bar.
“It’s going to take us a bit to get to where we can open it,” Pickett said.
Marion City Council has hired Randy Collett, a Marion native who returned to the city a year and a half ago after a 33-year career in telecommunications, to serve as economic development director.
County commissioners voted Monday to reinstate Peabody paramedic Larry Larsen, whom they had fired without explanation in October as director of emergency medical services.

Barrett Smith and Abigail Svoboda were crowned king and queen Friday at Centre High School’s winter homecoming ceremonies. At Marion High School, Elizabeth Meyer and Nicholas Stuchlik were crowned homecoming queen and king at halftime of a boys’ basketball game against Ell-Saline.
