Seldom in the history of this town has the community suffered such a shock as it received last Saturday morning when the news came of the tragic death of 17-year-old Ronald Good at Florence. Ronald met his death under the wheels of a moving train in the yards at Florence. The Marion football boys, after playing in a night game at Emporia, remained in Emporia, leaving there on a train early Saturday morning. At Florence, they were to come to Marion on a freight train but found they would have to wait on it for several hours. Some of the boys, anxious to get home, decided to jump on a flat car of a circus train bound for Marion. Ronald made it onto the car, but a sudden lurch threw him off and under the wheels.

Dr. Branch is driving a new Hupmobile, purchased from Henry Sallee.

Little Gordon Wolf is ill with diphtheria this week and the Hill Primary department, which he attended, was dismissed to-day for purposes of fumigation.

Charles B. Palmer and sons Leslie and Howard attended both the State Fair at Topeka and the Hutchinson Fair, having entered hogs, corn and alfalfa. At both places, they took $45.00 premiums on their corn. Leslie, who took the prize in the boys’ corn contest here on yellow corn, took the same corn to Hutchinson and got a $15.00 premium.
