A large number of people of the neighborhood attended a big church holiday at Pilsen Wednesday. A great dinner was served as well as a big supper in the evening. Music during the dinner was furnished by Svitak’s band.

Pilsen is greatly pleased with the electric current which they have recently secured from the Abilene company. Through very liberal donations from several of the people there, about $3,600 was raised to secure the current.

Several from Marion, Al Richardson, Homer Hoch, Dr. E.L. Braddock, John Gardner, and Wallis Hoch attended the dinner. People there prevailed upon Congressman Hoch to stay and make a speech in the afternoon.

The housewarming of the Marion Country Club last evening assembled what toastmaster Al Richardson well described as “a fine bunch of folks.”

T.B Armstrong has been notified of his appointment s assistant United States Marshal. Marion friends are glad of this distinction that has come to Tom. The only bad feature of the matter is that it will take the Armstrongs away from Marion. He assumes his position the first of October.

It is the desire of the board of City Commissioners that a mass meeting be held in the court room at 7:30 p.m. October 5 so that they may gain the opinion of the citizens before submitting the plans for a proposed water treating and waterworks system to a vote of the people.
