There is considerable sickness in the community, mainly from colds.

Battey Brothers have sold their hardware establishment to Mr. H.S. Alexander and Mr. J. Bowron, who will conduct the business hereafter. Mr. H.S. Alexander is a brother of T.P. Alexander of Florence and is an old resident of the county and a popular man. Mr. Bowron is a newcomer, but is evidently a gentleman well qualified for the business. Again, we say success to the new firm of Alexander & Bowron.

There will be a meeting at the church next Monday evening to organize a singing school.

The members of the Christian church have secured the Good Templars’ Hall in which to meet for worship. There is a faithful little band of them who assemble every Sabbath to break bread. We hope the day is not distant when all the denominations will have church buildings of their own in Marion Centre.

The traditional ground hog made his appearance last Sunday, and as he saw his shadow, we are to have six weeks of winter if this old fraud is to be relied on, but he isn’t.
