Marion Centre school will open next Monday. The Board has been very busy during vacation preparing for a still better school than ever taught here in the past. The building has been refitted, the upper room partitioned to accommodate the fourth teacher, which the school necessitates.

A.R. Hill has enlarged his blacksmith shop and put in a new forge; a move made necessary by increasing business.

Mr. Doster has rented the second story of Mrs. Tamiet’s building for a law office, and it has been nicely fitted up for him.

Freeborn has one of the nicest arrangements for sprinkling gardens we ever saw. It is too late to do much good this season, but the past dry summer has shown people the need of such a sprinkler, and many will probably invest hereafter.

McKain, the popular barber, is continually fixing up his establishment. The latest improvement is a convenient arrangement for shampooing and head bath, either cold or warm. Marion Centre appreciates Jim, and intends to stick to him. He is a good, honest, industrious man, and deserves the patronage he is receiving.
