April students of the month at Marion Elementary School are Josiah Meador, Cherokee Hurst, Dylan Carpenter, Kayla Kroupa, Brittany Hett, Corrina Crabb, Emily Schafers, Grace Overton, Emma Spachek, Joe Nickel, Alli Molleker, Emily Davis, Kiersten Modica, David Sawyer, Colton Boudreaux, and Keighlee Armstrong.
The 50th anniversary of Centre High School will be celebrated May 6 with a reunion at the high school building.
Nellie Kassebaum, 12, of Burdick has won a field trip of a lifetime. Nellie will join 14 other children, winners of National Geographic’s Kids Hands-on Explorer Challenge, and two teachers from throughout the U.S. on the 12-day expedition in Peru.
A men’s a cappella group, Six Appeal, will perform before to the main acts June 5 during Marion’s Chingawassa Days. Marion High School graduate Michael Brookens is lead vocalist and sings tenor with the group.
