Strenuous efforts are being made by some leading spirits of Peabody to detach two townships — Fairmount and Clifford — from Butler County and annex them to Marion County.
Simultaneously, Sam Wood has introduced a bill into the House cutting from Marion County the whole of Grant Township and almost a third of Doyle to add to Chase County. We do not charge that these very harmonious movements are parts and parcels of one plan to weaken Marion Centre and strengthen Peabody, but those who think so certainly have cause for the exercise of that belief.
Let no one deceive himself. This means no more nor less than the inauguration of a county-seat war.
Girls wanted. There are 500 more males than females in Marion County. This way, ye eastern lasses.
The McPherson Independent doesn’t want the Florence-to-Salina railroad built, but it is easy to account for the milk in that coconut.
