Winners this week in the Marion Chamber of Commerce retail promotion are Jo Elling, $50; Ann Rathert, $75; and Jason Kruse, $100. All winners are from Marion. They received gift certificates.

Sports Illustrated has included color photographs of two MHS cross country and volleyball players in its “Faces in the Crowd” feature in the Dec. 16 issue. Angie Bina of Marion and Iris Shanklin of Florence were singled out because they participated on both state championship teams. Both winning on the same day.

Judges in the Marion Chamber of Commerce Christmas lighting contest announced this year’s winners. Steve Hett was awarded first prize; Bill and Charmaine Keith, second place; and Tracy Hett, third. Honorable mention went to Judge Michael Powers.

Marion High School 1991-92 basketball cheerleaders are co-captains Amy Linnens and Renee Goodin, Tamara Stephens, Amy Christensen, and Tammy Johnson.

A/1C Amy L. Hett of Marion has received orders reassigning her to LakenHeath AFB in England. The base is located about three hours northeast of London in East Anglia. Her tour in England will be for two years.

Kelli Hajek, a student at Barton County Community College, is a member of the Cougar Kitten Dance Line. She also is a member of the National Dance Team traveling to Dallas to perform in competition Jan. 1-5.
