Chateau Upholstery, owned by Tony and Connie Paschal, will open Nov. 2 at 101 South First in Marion.

Kris Groening, daughter of Gordon and Shirley Groening of rural Marion, has been selected by the high school faculty as student of the month for October.

City commissioners are working with Rick Turner and Affiliated Grocers on a new grocery store to be constructed soon. It will be located on the lot where the Ford agency burned, in the 1200 block of East Main on the south side of the street.

Kelly Linnens, son of Barry and Linda Linnens of Florence, was crowned homecoming king during ceremonies Saturday at the Friends University vs. Tabor College football game.

Construction crews have been doing considerable amount of work at the Marion ballpark in preparation for expanded athletic facilities. The city will construct two additional ball diamonds plus an updated concession area.

An article by feature writer Margo Yates tells about Ed and Betty Grimwood of Burns, the history of their hardware store, and how the couple has opened their home over Thanksgivings to many foreign students at the University of Kansas.

Renee Goodin was crowned as FFA sweetheart Friday at halftime of the football game with Lyons. She was escorted by Michel Soyez, president of the Marion High School FFA chapter.
