Pledges to make Marion County courthouse fully accessible topped $5,000 Monday, commissioners learned at their regular weekly meeting. The single largest pledge was $1,000 from Tri-County Telephone.

Jim Versch, Marion High School art instructor, has been selected to participate in an area-wide art exhibition at McPherson College. Deb Heidebrecht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos, also has work on display during the exhibition.

Centre High School quiz team participated Monday afternoon in the regional tournament at Tescott. Team members competing included Diane Rziha, Russell Mueller, Analiese Ebaben, Dale Klenda, and Angie Vinduska.

Marion City Commission received bids Monday afternoon on installation of new curtains for the stage of Marion Municipal Auditorium. The low bid of The County Seat, Marion, was accepted at $6,688.

Marion High School student Suzanne Blount has been elected District G vice president of public relations for FHA. Laura Cupps, Caren Wildin, Angela Markley, and Kay Leah May qualified for state competition in Star Events.

Bonnie Wealand, Cedar Point, has been sworn in as postmaster in Florence. Wealand had been postmaster in Cedar Point since 1984.
