Mayor Gerry Harris announced Friday that a Pizza Hut will be constructed just north of US-56 within Marion city limits. Harris also announced he will move his car rental business and used car dealership to the highway location. Already located on the site is Touch of Copper, an art and gift shop.

Don Buethe of Lincolnville, who has retired after 45 years in the farm, chicken, and egg business, is the subject of this week’s “They made a difference” column.

Marion is featured on a full page of advertisement in the Kansas Secrets travel guide for 1994. Included in the listings are Kingfishers’ Inn, Main Street Café, Flint Hills Clay Works, Kraft Korner, Marion Mini Mall, The Copper Shed, Will’s Woolies, Marion Country Inn Motel, and Country Dreams Bed & Breakfast.

Workers with J-D Construction, Wichita, are pictured as they remove 80-year-old tiles from the roof of St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen and make necessary repairs to the wood beneath before re-roofing the full-length of the cathedral-like church.
