Windows and rafters for the new Marion Pizza Hut restaurant are going up this week in the industrial park north of US-56.

Al Sondergard of Ramona is Amy Smith’s choice this week for her column about the person “who made a difference” in their community. For 32 years before retiring in 1987, Sondergard operated Sondergard’s Garage in Ramona and was very active in community and church affairs.

A $100 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for vandalizing the memorial gaslights along the nature trail in Central Park.

Cash prizes will be offered at the Summerfest ’94 lip-synch contest scheduled June 11 on the Luta Creek Stage alongside Central Park in downtown Marion. First place winner will receive $200, second $100, third $50, and fourth $25.
