2 Trojans
finish in top 4

Two Trojans placed top five Thursday in Clearwater in the first cross-country meet of the season.

Quinlyn Funk placed third in the 5k race with a time of 21:38.86. Riley Richert was fourth place at 21:49.60. Casen Steinert had a time of 21:48.76, followed by Wyatt Dies at 22:04.75.

“Our middle school team had a great start to the year as well, with five kids medaling,” coach Brielle Loewen said.

The Trojans will travel Saturday to Wamego.

The Bluebirds and Warriors had their first meet of the season canceled because of lighting in the Abilene area.

“Kids were very disappointed,” Goessel coach Donna Washmon said.

Goessel is to compete Thursday in Hesston.

“I think that they will all do very well in their prospective races,” Washmon said. “I’m looking forward to watching them race.”

Marion will have JV runners heading to Hesston as well.

“This group is ready to compete and will be ready to go this week,” Marion coach Jason Hett said.

Marion’s varsity will travel Saturday to Wamego.
