The former Edson Childs, George Waner, and Newcomer Ford garage was ready Friday afternoon for a wrecking crew from Buckner Construction Co.

Now owned by Central National Bank, the old brick building will be razed to provide a parking lot for customers and employees of the soon-to-be-enlarged bank.

Marion’s football game Friday was the focus of much attention since Collegiate’s running back, DeAngelo Evans, needed just more than 100 yards to win the state rushing title. Although Marion lost, 50-26, Warrior coaches were pleased with the team’s performance under pressure.
