The City of Marion signed a contract Monday afternoon to purchase raw water from Marion Lake.

Walter D. Ediger and his wife, Jo Etta of Leon were killed late Sunday when their single-engine Cessna 172 airplane crashed southeast of Hillsboro. The Edigers had flown to Hillsboro from El Dorado to watch their daughter perform in a Tabor College production of Handel’s “Messiah.”

Dr. John Slifer will be honored at an open house birthday party to be held all day Thursday at his office in Florence.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Matz of Lincolnville are the proud parents of daughter, Lindsay Renee, born Dec. 14 in Salem Hospital.

Farm Bureau delegates from Marion County attended the annual meeting in Topeka Dec. 6-8. They included Carson Crawford, Jean Jost, Leland Albrecht, Leonard Frantz, and Jim Cott.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hett returned Thursday from a week’s meeting of Young Farmers held in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
