Saturday’s steady drizzle shrouded trees in Marion County with a glaze of ice. They were not the only things affected by the winter weather. Highways were particularly treacherous, and some pedestrians found sidewalks just as dangerous.

The days of house calls by physicians may never come back, but the medical community has substituted a similar practice in Marion, according Marilyn Hett, agency director. Marion County Home Health Agency was established in 1979 to provide medical care and convalescent treatment to homebound patients.

Senior Jenny McGuire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McGuire, is the November vocational agriculture student of the month.

Marsha Ames, executive secretary for the Marion Chamber of Commerce, is pictured as she tours “The Clothes Shop” Wednesday on her rounds of new businesses in town. A “first dollar of profit” was awarded to Merle and Nova Bruner, owners. Representatives also recognized Dr. Don Hodson for his new practice at St. Luke Medical Clinic.

Art Holmes has been building small toys for children for seven years and has donated most of them to the Salvation Army. This year he has donated more than three cartons of toys from his fleet of miniature cars, trains, planes, and furniture for distribution Dec. 18 when Santa Claus visits downtown.
