People who enjoy good country and western music will get the opportunity of a lifetime Tuesday when a Grand Ole Opry troupe will put on three shows in Marion under the sponsorship of the Marion Jaycees.

Twelve Marion High School students enjoyed the annual Easter tour to the east coast this year. Students who made the trip were Neil Colle, Steve Heinz, Helen Jackson, Mike Jantz, David Longhofer, Norman Mueller, Linda Oller, Patty Plenert, William Schlehuber, Madeline Thompson, Diann Wiens, and Mike Wood.

An old-fashioned fence building crew of 23 friends and neighbors of Mrs. Oliver Tharp and the Walt Hett and Max Tharp families met Saturday to repair fences that were burned in the recent prairie fire.

Dr. Charles R. Magee, who suffered a heart attack Monday evening, is a patient at St. Luke Hospital and reported to be in satisfactory condition. He will be away from his office for several weeks during his recuperation.

Becky Wood is the
“White Gypsy” in the upcoming Marion Elementary School operetta to be presented April 7. Other players, pictured on the front page, include Gail Whiteman as “Klink”, the king’s brother; Debra Link and Janet Stika, Gyro women; Don Bredemeier as Kom, gypsy “Prince of Royal Blood”, and Dennis Schafer, Gypsy chief.

Mrs. Howard Mullen entertained the families of her neighborhood with a breakfast Easter morning. About 45 parents and children were present.
