Announcement was made this week that Harold Wiens of Marion has purchased the Marion Farm Supply store, and will take over operation of the business within the next few days. The store will be called Wiens Farm Store and will offer a complete line of equipment and parts for farm and home use, including automotive accessories.

Six Marion boys will take part in the Zone Punt, Pass and Kick competitions to be held Saturday morning at Salina. The five boys are Marc Smith, Tim Zerger, John Popp, Bob Nelson, David Thompson, and Ronald Weber.

Merrill’s Cleaners has installed a bubble-making device atop their dry cleaning plant. It blows Lawrence Welk-type bubbles into the air and attracts a lot of attention. Perhaps a public address system playing champagne music will be added next.

Babies born at St. Luke Hospital this week were Andrew Shawn Krause, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Krause of Marion, born Oct. 16 and Jeffrey Dean Bina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bina of Marion, born Oct. 17.

The Harlem Thrillers, professional basketball team with a lot of laughs and fancy ball handling, will play in the Marion Gymnasium Nov. 20. They will play the Marion Mashers, the hometown heroes.

Cadet Third Class Norman L. Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bowers of Marion, has entered his second year of study at the U.S. Coast Guard academy in New London, Conn.
