The official board of the Marion Methodist Church accepted final plans Sunday afternoon for the complete remodeling and renovation of their church building. The church now has on hand, or pledged, over $75,000 toward the new project. Most of the money was raised in a three-day fund drive this fall.

Jake Hein, who has been custodian of the Marion Municipal Building since its construction in 1938, will retire Jan. 1. He has been with the city for 36 years, having served in all departments of the public work. During recent years, he also has been in charge of maintenance of Marion’s beautiful Central Park.

Pictured are four happy winners in last Thursday night’s Christmas drawing for children’s prizes. Terry Weigart won a woodburning set; Angela Krause, pocket transistor radio; Tim Christensen, basketball and goal; and Donna Sherbert, doll and buggy.

Among some of the more beautiful displays of Christmas lights are at the homes of Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Zerger, and at Spain Guest Home.

Births at St. Luke Hospital this week included a 9-pound daughter, Jo Ellen, born Dec. 16 to Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Vinduska of Marion and a 3 pound 1 ounce daughter, Sheryl Denise, born Dec. 20 to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tajchman Jr. of Ramona.

The Swing Singers, directed by Ken Forsyth, will present a Christmas program at the Marion Municipal Auditorium Saturday evening at 8 p.m.
