“Dead Man’s Bridge” north of Marion, which has been closed for several months since being washed out during heavy rains last fall, will be replaced with a new-style corrugated metal bolted plate culvert, says Engineer James Meisner.

A Burns girl, Mary Margaret Teter, won the $150 prize at the “Beef Cook Off” Saturday at the state contest at Kansas State University. She was the state winner.

Mrs. Bill Caselman has accepted the position of Marion City librarian.

Randall R. Pope, who was born and raised in Durham, is a landscape architect for the National Park Service and recently received a promotion for his work at Grand Teton National Park, near Moose, Wyoming.

Prokop Svitak, Marion, received $50 Wednesday afternoon at the Marion Cash Day drawing. Also present to collect money were Edith C. Druse, $5, and Lydia Schroer, Marion, $10. Sue Graybeal, Marion, missed $15, and Sid Moore, Marion, missed $5.

Mrs. Gerald Kline and her infant son, Kimberly Dean, were honored guests at a baby shower Sunday at the home of Mrs. Leroy Winters. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Winters and her co-hostesses Mrs. Robert Oller, Mrs. Richard Vogel, and Mrs. William Carr.
