The two Marion banks, Marion National and Farmers and Drovers, have decided to join the trend toward full time during the week, with Saturday afternoons off. Beginning next Monday, they will be open Thursday afternoons and closed Saturday afternoons.

The junior play, “The Diary of Anne Frank” will be presented April 18 at the city auditorium. The cast includes Dick Maggard, Sherry Knoblock, Connie Jost, Sherman Kelsey, Larry Ensey, Carol Caselman, Neva Kelsey, Anita Schick, Gary Babb, and Dennis Hett.

Mrs. Bill Dwelle and August Schoneman are in the hospital following a serious 2-car accident in smoke caused by a stubborn prairie fire. Mrs. Dwelle, Mr. and Mrs. Schoneman, and Johnny and Anne Higgins were in the Dwelle car that was struck by a second car, and then erupted into flames.

Mr. and Mrs. Levern Ottensmeier hosted a surprise birthday party in the basement of Our Savior Lutheran Church honoring their son, Jim, on his 16th birthday. Guests were Dennis Highsmith, Dennis and Richard Swanson, Dennis and Dick Maggard, Garry Klose, Pat and Connie Warneke, Kathy and Henrietta Klein, Pam Domke, Mary Lou Rumpel, Charlotte Poppe, and Anita Ottensmeier.

Earl Winter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Winter of Marion, is now stationed at Cuba aboard a destroyer on picket duty off the coast there.
