The product of a small Marion industry was readied this week for shipment to Hawaii.

The machine is Rex Siebert’s “Spring-O-Matic” livestock table and is now on the first leg of its journey to A. Hartwell Carter, a rancher of Kamuela, Hawaii.

In addition to almost 300 machines sold in the United States, there are 10 in use in the Dominion of Canada, but this is the first to take an ocean trip.

Dennis Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hett, has been named “Junior Kiwanian” for the month of February. Dennis is a straight A honor roll student at Marion High and editor of the student newspaper.

Elgin Restaurant has announced that plans are being made for a grand opening on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant will be owned and operated by Lois Lundgren and Claudine Hunt.

Judy Broadstreet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Broadstreet, Marion, has been nominated by the freshman class at Sterling College as a candidate for the annual Valentine royalty.
