Professional actors, aerial acrobats, and clown acts are booked for one of the big events of the year next Sunday at Civil Air Patrol’s flying carnival at the Marion Airport. A large crowd is expected as only a nominal charge is being made to defray expenses.

Rachel Keazer, a graduate of the Kansas School of Cosmetology has been hired by Evelyn Ollenberger as an operator in the Marion Beauty Shop that will reopen Monday at 136 N. Roosevelt.

Marion High School seniors Leslie Powell and Norma Sly were chosen king and queen of the high school carnival held Tuesday evening at the school.

High school winners in the Case and Son annual fire prevention essay contest are Dorothy Markham, first, $5; Robert Skibbe, second, $3; and Ursula Neuwirth, third, $2. First place winners in the grade school division, each receiving two dollars, are Kay Navrat, sixth grade; Lois Strong, seventh; and Pearl Seibel, eighth.
