These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Kanza Rd. south of 170th Rd.

Two vehicles hit a deer at 5:37 p.m. April 16, according to reports released Friday.

A 2013 Jeep Wrangler, owned and driven by James A. Cross, 59, Hillsboro, remained drivable with damage to its left side, hood, and windshield.

A 2017 Nissan Altima, owned by Joshua L. Hiebert and driven by Chastity N. Bates, 29, of the same rural Hillsboro address, also remained drivable with damage to its front and undercarriage.

Nine-year-old Mikah R. Bates of the same address was a passenger.

150th Rd. west of Falcon Rd.

Charles V. Ayers, 68, rural Hillsboro, hit a deer at 6:37 a.m. April 19 with his 1986 Chevrolet C10, which remained drivable with damage to its front.

K-15 south of 120th Rd.

Clayton T. Hodson, 32, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 9:55 p.m. April 19 with a 2010 Dodge Caravan owned by Tri-County Telephone Association.

The van remained drivable with damage to its left front, hood, and undercarriage.

US-56 near 290th Rd.

Wyatt M. Karl, 19, Manhattan, drove a 2014 Toyota Camry onto the right shoulder at 3:48 a.m. April 21, lost control, veered into a ditch, and hit a culvert.

The Camry, owned by Jeremiah B. Allen of different Manhattan address, sustained disabling damage to its front, both sides, and undercarriage and was towed.

Claire D. Allen, 17, of the owner’s Manhattan address was a passenger.

Deputy Joshua Meliza’s report blamed the accident on inattentive and distracted driving. No tickets were issued.

340th R. west of US-56/77

A fogged-over windshield is being blamed for an injury accident at 6:15 a.m. April 23 in which Angela K. Vann, 37, Hillsboro, drove her 2012 Honda Civic off the left side of the road and through a creek, striking the creek’s far bank.

Vann was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, by Tampa ambulance. Her Honda sustained disabling damage to its front, hood, and undercarriage and was towed.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on distracted driving. No tickets were issued.

HILLSBORO

Santa Fe St. south of US-56

Exiting the Barkman Honey parking lot at 5:05 p.m. Friday, Courtney R. Laplante, 41, Hillsboro, drove her 2018 Buick Encore into the side of a northbound 2003 Buick LeSabre, owned and driven by Randy L. Rummel, 75, Durham.

Both vehicles remained drivable, the Encore with damage to its front and the LeSabre with damage to its left rear.

Jenifer L. Riley, 48, and Harley D. Rummel, 24, of the same Durham address were passengers in the LeSabre.

Officer Gary Slater’s report blamed the accident on Laplante’s failure to yield, although she told him she looked both ways and did not see Rummel’s car. No tickets were issued.

MARION

Roosevelt and Weldon Sts.

Nancy J. Edmunds, 52, Marion, was cited for failing to yield after her eastbound 2008 Ford Focus and a northbound 2018 Chrysler Pacifica owned and driven by Alexis N. Williams, 31, collided at 11:12 a.m. Thursday in the middle of an uncontrolled intersection.

Both vehicles remained drivable, the Ford with damage to its front and the Chrysler with damage to its passenger side and front.

Without elaboration, interim chief Zach Hudlin’s report blamed the accident, reported by Marion firefighters, on Edmunds’ failure to yield.
