Peabody farmer and rancher Derek Klingenberg will perform at 1:30 p.m. March 7 at Pioneer Bluffs Center for Ranching Heritage, a mile north of Matfield Green.

Klingenberg combines his love of music and entertainment with daily agriculture life.

His presentation will be a unique answer to the question “What does the farmer say?”

Klingenberg is a third generation Kansas farmer. He lives and works on the Klingenberg Family Farm and Ranch south of Peabody.

“It’s prime grazing country where we raise corn, soybeans, wheat, cattle, and cats,” Klingenberg said.

His YouTube channel, which has nearly 50 million views, features music parodies and original music showing a fun, personal perspective of farm life.

In nearly 200 videos, he serenades cattle with a trombone, watches a meteor shower from a hammock over a cornfield irrigation pivot, and feeds cattle with robots through the internet. In a slightly serious video, the Bethel College Choir sings in his grain bin with a surprisingly beautiful acoustic sound.

He works with his dad and his brother, Grant. His middle brother, Brett, pastor of the First Mennonite Church in Beatrice, Nebraska, is still involved in the farm.

“Growing up, my family priorities consisted of church, family, work, music, and eating a lot,” says Klingenberg. “I now have my own family of three cute girls along with my wife, Kara, and spend my time working on the farm, dancing with my girls, and making YouTube videos.”

The program will be in the restored 1915 barn at Pioneer Bluffs. The location will be changed if the day has inclement weather.

Reservations are encouraged but not required. People with reservations will be notified directly of a venue change, and it will be posted on the Pioneer Bluffs social media page.

Cost is by donation and will support future programs at Pioneer Bluffs.
