Bluegrass festival returns

The 13th annual Bluegrass at the Lake festival, back this year after a year’s hiatus because of COVID-19, will offer music, food, a silent auction, and a chance to mingle with others.
“This year we have nine bands between Friday and Saturday,” lake superintendent Isaac Hett said.
Friday entertainment will include Marion musician Galen Obermeyer, Bandid, Prospect Bluegrass, and Bad Mother Hubbard.
Saturday’s performers will be Christian band Sign of Jonah, Grody Riggins, Haymakers, Foggy Memory Boys, and the Dewayn Brothers.
“We tried to give something new to everyone,” said Bob McCurdy, one of the festival coordinators. “Bluegrass is just the name. We’ve kind of decided there are a lot of people out there who like different kinds of music.”
Registration for Saturday’s cornhole tournament will open at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 for a team of two. The tournament begins at 2:30 p.m.
Wristbands will sell for $10.
Food will be available from vendors Taco’s Food Truck of Marion, Wings and Tails BBQ of Peabody, and Siebert’s Sweets of Hillsboro.
Merchandise vendors will have booths set up, and a day-long silent auction Saturday at the Lake Hall will raise money for Friends of Marion County Lake Association.
