Carolyn Kay Allen
A memorial service will be scheduled later for Clancy “Carolyn Kay” Allen, 82, Marion, who died Feb. 3.
Born April 4, 1942, in Sidney, Nebraska, to Charles and Doris (Rupert) Allen, she received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska – Kearney and a master’s in counseling from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and completed coursework there for a Ph.D.
She taught history, French, and English and coached drama and volleyball at high schools in Nebraska, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C., and engaged in private practice as a counselor.
A member of the United Methodist Church, her life partner, Judith May, was a pastor.
She survives along with sisters Virginia Allen of Milford, Delaware, and Janine Allen of Portland, Oregon.
Sisters Jennifer Allen Kinder and Cindy Allen-Massey preceded her in death.
A memorial has been established with Marion City Library. Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.
