Centre FFA installs new officers

At least 71 members and guests attended the Centre FFA annual meeting May 8.

New officers installed for the 2018-19 school year were Grace Knepp, president; Jensen Riffel, vice president; Cailey Barney, secretary/treasurer; Tyler Nickel, reporter; and Dillon Knepp, sentinel.

This year’s members included 11 seniors, five juniors, nine sophomores, and 11 freshmen. Honored for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average were seniors Jacob Bittle, Rebecca Casey, Meghan David, KJ Ivey, Grace Peterson, Cole Srajer, and Max Svoboda; junior Grace Knepp; sophomores Emma David, Kelsey Hett, and Jensen Riffel; and freshman Tyler Nickel.

Chapter proficiency awards were presented to Dillon Knepp for his work with sheep production, Grace Peterson for her work with swine production, and Grace Knepp for diversified livestock production.

Top fruit salesperson was Cameron Spohn. Dillon Knepp received the chapter star greenhand award, Austin Peterson was star in ag production, and Jacob Bittle received star in ag business.

Scholarships awarded included Leo Jirak Memorial to Cole Srajer and Zach Barney, Galen Peterson Memorial to Austin Peterson, Leadership to Zach Barney, James Weber Memorial to Zach Barney, and American Red Cross to Grace Peterson.

Parents Mark and Kim Harms, Jim and Kris Srajer, and Troy and Cris Peterson were named honorary members.
