Charles Good
Charles “Chuck” Edward Good, 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 5, 2016, at Via Christi — St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. He had been in failing health during recent months.
Chuck was born Sept. 7, 1955, to Charles Irvin and Jane Good in Newton, Kansas. He grew up on the family farm near Peabody, Kansas, and lived most of his adult life in Peabody.
Chuck attended Peabody Elementary School and also Peabody Junior High. He graduated from Peabody High School with the Class of 1973. During his school years, he enjoyed playing baritone in the band, he participated in football and basketball, and he was a member of FFA, to name a few. He also enjoyed hunting and riding his four-wheelers and motorcycle.
Chuck became a “Wildcat” in every sense of the word while attending Kansas State University and graduating in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. During his adult years, he continued to be an avid fan of K-State football and basketball. He even played basketball until he was 60. Some of his greatest joys were coaching and watching his own sons play basketball.
Following graduation from K-State, Chuck was employed by Guerdon Industries of Manhattan as a controller. In 1980, he began a life-long career at Peabody State Bank where he began as a loan officer and was president at the time his illness began.
Chuck married Susan Stucky, the love of his life, on June 20, 1981, in Peabody Park. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior as a young adult and together with his wife, Susan, ministered in a variety of ways. He was a charter member of Peabody Bible Church, which has become known as Gracepoint in recent years. He served as church treasurer, elder, and sound technician for many years.
Other activities that Chuck was involved in include Kiwanis, Peabody Community Foundation, Economic Development Board, Peabody State Bank board member, and PBHS football chain gang. His humble, compassionate, and caring ways have impacted so many in the community, and his Christian example will resonate through the years.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Caleb and his wife, Whitney, and Isaac and his wife, Kayla; six grandchildren, Lexy, Gracie, Kenzi, Tralee, Ema, and Asa; two brothers, Don of Austin, Texas, and Richard and his wife, Karen, of Topeka, Kansas; one sister, Marcia Edmonds and her husband, Jerry, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at United Methodist Church, 403 Sycamore St., Peabody, Kansas. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Gracepoint Church, 801 N. Vine St., Peabody, Kansas.
Memorials in honor of Chuck may be given to Gracepoint Church, The “HUB,” and Peabody-Burns High School athletics. Flowers may be sent to the locations listed. Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
