County truck hits lumber flatbed

Staff writer

A county road and bridge employee was injured when a dump truck he was driving collided Thursday with a flatbed delivery truck at 160th and Pawnee Rds.

Both trucks tipped over and landed on their sides in a ditch.

Glen George was driving the dump truck north on Pawnee when it struck the rear of the truck, which was going east on 160th.

George was taken to St. Luke Hospital.

The delivery truck, owned by Star Lumber, was being driven by Jonathan Hyslop, Bel Aire. Hyslop did not report injury.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and no citations were issued.

County engineer Brice Goebel said Thursday that George was recovering at home.

“He’s doing well other than being stiff and sore,” Goebel said. “How it happened, we don’t know yet. We haven’t gotten a report.”

Neither road is paved, and the intersection is unmarked, Goebel said.

Goebel said he did not know whether the dump truck had been loaded or empty.
