Dealership drive raises money to aid local schools

Marion, Hillsboro, Goessel, and Centre schools will be given $20 for each school supporter who goes to Hillsboro Ford Saturday to test drive a new car.

Terry Hagen, owner of Hillsboro Ford, said the Drive 4 Ur School program is sponsored by Ford Motor Company.

“You have to be of driving age,” Hagen said. “Basically it’s one gift per household. If a couple come to the event and both drive, there will be a single donation.”

The annual event used to be only for Hillsboro schools, but the dealership decided to open it up to other schools in order to attract more people, Hagen said.

If participants have a smart phone, they can scan an event flyer to preregister.

After their test drive, they get an e-mail reminding them to fill out a survey, which they must complete by the next morning.

People without smart phones may register at the dealership and fill out a survey after the test drive.

Up to 300 test drives can be taken for donations to schools.
