Donors secure ambulance parking lot

Staff writer

A partnership between Lincolnville feedlot owner Mike Beneke and Middlecreek Corp. will build a new parking lot at the Emergency Medical Services station in Peabody.

The property also is the future home of fire district No. 4.

Old concrete left by the former property owner, Central Propane, needed to be removed to make way for the parking lot.

Beneke donated money toward the work and Middlecreek Corp. took it from there.

Frank Oursler, co-owner of Middlecreek Corp., said work to remove the old concrete began a couple of weeks ago and was finished Thursday afternoon. The old concrete was hauled away that same day. The project was a two-week job, Oursler said.

EMS crew member Brian Whiteside said ambulances were moved to the station on 9th. St. four or five months ago.

“A lot of time when it floods downtown, they need a place to park the fire trucks,” Whiteside said.
