Elsie Thompson

Graveside services for Elsie Mae Thompson, 86, who died March 20 at Neighborhoods at Quail Creek in Springfield, Missouri, will be at 2 p.m. May 27 at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.

Elsie was born March 13, 1939, in Greenwood County, to James C. Fraser and Gilla Bolger. She grew up on a farm south of Climax and attended Climax School.

She married Ralph Romig on Dec. 7, 1956, in Eureka.

She married Anthony Charles Thompson on Nov. 9, 1986, in Chanute. He preceded her in death May 29, 2011.

She retired from HK Porter in Chanute.

Elsie is survived by son Ralph (and wife Diana) Romig of Huntsville, Texas, and daughters Phyllis Zorn of Marion and Karen (and husband Bryan) Smith of Ozark, Missouri.

Also surviving are grandchildren Jennifer (and husband Jeff) Nill of Doha, Qatar; Miranda (and husband Kirk) Twist of Salina; Matthew (and wife Cheryl) Romig of Manvel, Texas; Benjamin (and wife Ashley) Zorn of Derby; Brenden (and wife, Sarah) Smith of Springfield, Missouri; and Trevor (and wife Hannah) Smith of Dayton, Ohio.

Great-grandchildren are Noah, Trinity Clara, Caleb, Scarlett, and Piers Romig; Emma Twist; Cooper and Decklan Zorn; Maribelle and Theoden Smith; Emmeric and Thatcher Smith; and Susanna and Grayson Nill.

She also is survived by sister Mary (and husband Randell) Sevier of Duncan, Oklahoma.

Brother John Fraser and sister Sandra Soendker preceded her in death.

Services will be conducted by Gary Swearengin of Nixa Church of the Nazarene.

Memorials have been established with Nixa Church of the Nazarene, 306 Northview Rd, Nixa MO 65714 and Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg MD 20871.
