EXPANDED EULOGIES

Evelyn Bredemeier

Graveside services were scheduled Feb. 23 in Marion Cemetery for Evelyn A. Bredemeier, 86, Marion, who passed away Feb. 17 at St. Luke Living Center.

Evelyn’s life began July 29, 1934, in Marion. She was the daughter of Clyde Fredrick “Fritz” and Henrietta “Hank” (Conyers) Richmond.

Evelyn was a member of the Marion High School Class of 1952. She was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” H. Bredemeier on March 15, 1952. Evelyn helped her husband, Dick, with the Phillips 66 service stations he managed, serving as his bookkeeper. She then went to work for 25 years at the Sterling (later Pfizer) Pharmaceutical packaging plant in McPherson before retiring.

Dick and Evelyn loved to camp and were members of the “Marionettes” camping group. They camped at various lakes in the region at least once a month. They enjoyed camping with their good friends in South Central Colorado. Evelyn enjoyed backyard barbeques with relatives, cooking, and gardening.

In the early years of their marriage, she repaired and refinished antique furniture for their home.

She was a volunteer at St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary Shoppe and Eastmoor United Methodist Church, especially preparing lunches in the kitchen.

Evelyn was close to all her cousins, siblings, in-laws, and their children.

She moved to Marion Assisted Living and then to St. Luke Living Center for the last 20 months of her life.

Her greatest joy was her family. Survivors include sons Mike (and wife, Lynne) Bredemeier of California, Don (and wife, Donna) Bredemeier of Marion, and James Bredemeier of Wichita; grandchildren Jeff, Jon, Josh, Jenessa and Jake; seven great-grandchildren; sister Laura Jane Bredemeier of Petaluma, California; and brother James Richmond of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, on June 21, 2019. A joint service was held for both Evelyn and Dick, led by Pastor Darren Frazier of Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Her parents, infant son John, and brothers Ralph and Jack Richmond also preceded her in death.
