Freshmen win in ag mechanics

Members of the Marion FFA chapter finished first as a team in a freshman ag mechanics contest April 24 at Newton High School.

Individually, Teegan Kraus placed first; Colt Smith, 3rd; and Hitch Soyez, fourth.

Participants were required to complete two welds, identify 60 hand tools, complete a problem-solving exercise, identify parts on a metal band saw, and take a written safety test.

About 90 students competed.
