Get over it
To the editor:
With the election decided and the dust beginning to settle, it’s time for all those who slung such hatred, vitriol, and lies at Donald Trump and his supporters to put a lid on it.
Your continued hatemongering further incites those who are already unstable to try to act on their misguided rhetoric and actually carry out a threat.
President-elect Trump is not Hitler and will not seek revenge on those who disparaged him (though I wouldn’t blame him), tried to bankrupt him, put him in prison, turn the Department of Justice on him, or tried to assassinate him twice.
Get over it! He did none of those things in his first term and will not do so in his second term.
He won the popular vote by a wide margin as well as 312 electoral votes. The majority has spoken. It’s time to put on your big-boy britches and act like adults instead of petulant, spoiled brats.
Trump will set the tone by working with the communist leaders from Russia, China, and North Korea, put nuclear-war lunatic Iran on their back, and try to avoid World War III.
Face it: if the Democrats hadn’t circumvented true democracy, led a coup against Biden, and leap-frogged the absolute worst possible candidate into the campaign, maybe things would have ended differently.
Calling us “garbage” and continual lying about everything from soup to nuts, we’d be having a different conversation.
To quote Chuck Schumer, “elections have consequences.” There will be another election in four years. Maybe it’s time for self-evaluation and doing it right.
