Cookies sweeten lunches
Senior Center
A gift of five cases of Girl Scout cookies will add a special treat to meals at the senior center, where lunch in air-conditioned comfort is accompanied by daily piano playing by Keith Allison or Shirley Bowers.
Richard and Marilyn Riemer of Hillsboro were instructors for an American Association of Retired Persons driving class two afternoons last week.
A veterans services representative also answered questions and will return Aug. 8.
Lettuce grown in Marion’s community garden was shared with the center by the local food bank.
Flag Day was celebrated by reciting the pledge of allegiance and answering trivia. A patriotic banner and flags in table vases decorated the center.
Joe Hirsch of Sunflower State Tours, featured in a Page 1 article in last week’s Marion County Record, will speak June 28.
