Goat wins $4,000 for teen

Lehigh resident Ashley Peters, 15, won the market wether goat show this year at Kansas State Fair. Her billy goat, Adonis, received $4,000 as an award.
“My family’s super big into it,” Peters said. “My parents both did it. My older brother, Charlie, showed, and I was always at those shows, so I joined along.”
She also has done cattle, horse, and photography projects over eight years of showing.
“I also showed lambs for a while, but I was kind of small, and they pushed me over, so we switched to goats,” she said.
She is planning to attend Kansas State University and join its livestock judging team after she graduates.
