Honda stolen in plain sight

Staff writer

A white 1993 Honda CBR motorcycle that was for sale in front of HRK was stolen sometime between Sept. 16 and Friday, according to Marion police.

When he heard his motorcycle wasn’t there anymore, Marion resident Bart Peace thought the HRK owners might have moved it.

“I talked to the owners of the store but the motorcycle was gone,” he said. “It was in plain view. I guess someone could have forced the steering and pushed it into an alley.”

HRK owner Bernice Beach was surprised when she heard the motorcycle had been stolen.

“It floored me,” she said. “Sure, we’ve had a few shoplifters in our time. I’ve been here for 33 years. This is the first time anything has ever been stolen from out there.”

People who chose to sell items from that location do so at their own discretion, Beach said. She has no financial liability for the theft.

People with information regarding the case should contact Marion Police Department at (620) 382-2651.
