Interviews, receptions begin for USD 408 superintendent candidates

Receptions to provide opportunities for public to meet candidates

USD 408 Marion-Florence board of education will be interviewing candidates this week to replace outgoing superintendent Lee Leiker,

A series of receptions beginning today (Monday) at Marion Community Center will give the public opportunities to meet the four candidates to be interviewed.

The candidates are:

  • Aaron Homburg, K-12 principal and superintendent for Paradise-Natoma-Waldo. He is in his 13th year with USD 399. Homburg taught seventh through 12th grade social studies at USD 275 Triplains for nine years and was administrative assistant there for one year. A reception for Homburg will be from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. today.
  • Brian Rowley, middle/high school principal at Udall. He is in his seventh year with USD 463. Rowley was middle/high school principal at Ellinwood for six years, and assistant principal and activities/athletic director at Abilene High School for four years. Rowley taught business and computer studies for six years, beginning at Goessel High School before moving on to Lebo and Osage City. A reception for Rowley will be from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Lonnie Moser, K-12 principal at Chetopa in USD 505 Chetopa – St. Paul. Moser was middle school principal at Pittsburg for six years and assistant principal at the same school for two years. Moser spent five years as junior/senior high principal at Little River. Prior to his administrative experience, Mr. Moser was a seventh grade teacher at Salina South Middle School for eight years. Moser’s reception will be from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • John Montford, principal of Sunnyside Elementary School in Dodge City. He is in his seventh year with USD 443 in this position. Montford was an English language learning specialist at Goddard for three years, and taught fifth grade there for two years. Montford also was a fourth and fifth grade teacher in Wichita Public Schools for five and a half years. A reception for Montford will be from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Friday.
