Jim Ottensmeier

James L. “Jim” Ottensmeier, 68, died Monday at his home in Marion.

A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Claney Cemetery, rural Marion.

Born April 1, 1948, to Levern and Martha (Hansen) Ottensmeier in Marion, he graduated from Marion High School in 1966.

He married Jo Ann Looney of Florence on May 23, 1970. 

Ottensmeier served in the Air Force from 1968 to 1975.  His tour included Japan, Germany, Turkey, Spain, England and Iceland, with his final duty station at Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas.  

After his military duty, Jim worked as a metal fabricator for Donahue Manufacturing in Durham, Hesston Corporation in Hesston, Heckendorn Manufacturing in Peabody, and Hillsboro Industries in Hillsboro.

He is survived by wife Jo Ann; children Michael Ottensmeier, Tami Williams, and Keith Ottensmeier, all of Marion; sister Anita (Ottensmeier) Schill of El Dorado; and six grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established for Good Shepherd Hospice.
