Marion athletes set personal bests at Lindsborg

Marion track teams saw a day of improvement at Friday’s Smoky Valley Invitational in Lindsborg.

Anne Baliel set a personal best in the girls pole vault with a second-place jump of 10-feet, while Noah Dalrymple took second in boys high jump with a personal record of 6-feet-2-inches.

The girls team had a strong performance all around, placing in the top three in four events. They gathered 34 points on seven events total.

The boys had three individual medalists, earning 12 points.

Girls top finishers: 4-by-400-meter, third place, 4:31.64; discus, Drew Helmer sixth place, 95-feet-9-inches; long jump, Emmy Hess sixth place, 15-feet-5¼-inches; pole vault, Baliel second place, 10-feet, Michaela Regnier third place, 8-feet-6-inches; 200-meter, Baliel fourth place, 28.63 seconds; 1600-meter, Heidi Grimmett third place, 5:40.12.

Boys top finishers: high jump, Dalrymple second place, 6-feet-2-inches; shot put, Charlie Nordquist fifth place, 42-feet-½-inch; pole vault, Campbell Winter fifth place, 9-feet-6-inches.
