“This last week was a positive one for us,” coach Kevin Dasenbrock said. “We are starting to come together at the right time playing team basketball. Obviously our goal was to win the whole tournament, but overall I thought we competed well.”

Centre

The Cougars placed fourth out of eight boys’ teams in their final Cougar Classic.

The Cougars beat Peabody-Burns Day 1 but lost to Rural Vista on Day 2. This put Centre against Douglass on Friday , losing 58-41.

Kole Kroupa led his team with 11 points. Noah Brunner crashed the boards with eight rebounds and five points.

“The team battles very hard against a solid Douglass team that enters the classic as the No. 1 seed,” coach Richard Idleman said. “I have to praise the team for continuing to battle, positive attitudes, and solid efforts that stood out in this game.”

Centre will play Friday at home against Canton-Galva.

Peabody-Burns

The Bluebirds fluttered to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, extending their lead 20-8 at halftime and coasting at a 42-15 victory.

For the second game in a row, Gaddis scored 22 points.

The Goessel boys are now 2-10 and will face Sedgwick (5-8) Friday.

“I was very proud of how we responded after our tough game on Tuesday,” coach Curtis Guhr said. “We came out with great energy and effort on Thursday to get the win vs Wakefield. On Friday, I thought we had the same effort to start the game but got tired by the end of the game.”
