Marion FFA places first at Ag contest

Students from Marion High School won first place in the South Central District Agriculture Mechanical and Technical Systems Career Development Event Monday at McPherson High School.

The central theme of the contest was planting systems. Contestants were required to complete several tests and practicums.

Activities included reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams; identifying parts and using a field measuring app for determining the size of a field; completing a gas metal arc welding exercise; a small engine measuring and troubleshooting exercise; a seed population and field sizing practicum; a written test; and a team activity which involved constructing a small project from a set of plans.

Individually for Marion, Peyton Ensey placed first overall and Cameron Steward placed fifth. Other team members competing for Marion included Braydin Sippel, Noak Kukuk, Stevan Schafers, Joey Nickel, Elijah Catlin, Lane Watkins, and Rope Uhl.
