New playground equipment will be installed at Marion County Park and Lake this spring.

Park and Lake director Isaac Hett said Marion Advancement Campaign raised $8,000 to buy a climber, swings, a swing bench, and a 5-foot slide for a new playground.

The old playground is near the lake office. That playground will remain, Hett said.

Hett said the new playground equipment is planned for an area where no recreational improvements have been made, between Upland Rd. and the stone restrooms.

Hett said the playground equipment’s shipper promised to deliver the equipment promptly.

“They can have it to us by the beginning of March,” Hett said.

He said he’s considering calling for volunteers to install the playground and holding a cookout to thank anyone who shows up in late March or April.
