SHERIFF
Theft by threat, fleeing police in a stolen vehicle
An unspecified automobile valued at $20,000 was reported stolen between 5:08 and 7:45 p.m. Dec. 8 from Shelby R. Svitak, 29, at her residence near 270th and Remington Rd.
The vehicle, which deputy Bruce Burke’s report states was recovered the same day, was reported stolen by Edward L. Svitak, 57, of the same address.
Burke’s report indicates an unidentified boyfriend of the owner was suspected in the case.
Undersheriff Larry Starkey said Burke lost sight of the car after a brief chase, but the driver had fled. No arrest was made. An offense report has been sent to the county attorney’s office for prosecution, Starkey said.
The suspect is believed to be in Harvey County jail after being arrested on unrelated charges.
Additional information was not available because police radio transmissions have been encrypted to prevent monitoring, and no additional information was offered by the sheriff’s department in releasing the offense report.
